It was a long, hard journey, but Annika and I managed to smash the official stroller-pushing Guinness World Record by over an hour. Our time was 2 hours, 49 minutes and 43 seconds – or more than eight consecutive 20-minute 5-Ks. Ouch! We raised $1,000 for Sick Kids Hospital, including donations from complete strangers who had seen me on TV. There were so many people cheering us on during the race – it was incredible. A local TV station (City TV) did a preview story that aired a bunch of times so a lot of people knew what I was doing. There was also a big preview feature in the Globe and Mail newspaper which tons of people had read.
During the race itself, City TV had a reporter following me throughout the race and filming footage and interviews afterward. Now they’re doing a follow-up piece for tomorrow’s news as well. It was mentioned in our three local papers and one of them, The Toronto Sun, had a huge, half-page color photo of Annika and I near the finish line. Here’s a link to the story that went along with the photo.

I emailed to tell you that Amanda and I managed to complete our second marathon together in 3:30:13 to qualify for the 2005 Boston Marathon. We ran in the 2004 Toronto Waterfront Marathon on September 26, 2004, the same race that Michal Kapral pushed his daughter to a sub 3:00:00 marathon.
Amanda turned 19 this fall and we've already sent in our registration forms for next year's Boston Marathon. I'm looking forward to traveling there with the whole family and starting the race with Team Hoyt (Rick and Dick Hoyt) . Also, just because it's a "Jogger" doesn't mean the buggies don't go fast. We've turned a number of sub 4:00 kilometers as well...

bought my Baby Jogger in May 2004 so that I could get back to my pre-pregnancy shape. My daughter Phoebe, then 10 months, would laugh hysterically and kick her legs every time I ran with her and was soon able to shout "faster faster!" We took Phoebe EVERYWHERE in her Jogger. We pushed her up mountains in the Lake District, across beaches in Wales, through wind, snow and rain.We got looks of awe at a particularly wet country show where there were people, prams and cars stuck in the mud yet the Jogger glid effortlessly on.
Now I'm proud mother to Isabella (5 months) and last week I took her out for her first ride in the Jogger. She loved it! Phoebe is nearly 5 years old and getting VERY heavy to push, but she still loves to ride in her Jogger. So I just wanted to say thanks for the last 4 years of fun and here's to the next 4 years.

Now that the marathon is over, Donelle and I wanted to personally say thank you for contributing to the purchase of the special needs running stroller that allowed both of us to realize a dream. Your generosity allowed Opportunity Enterprises to move forward with the project and provided the necessary funds to proceed with the purchase of the chair. As I’m sure you know by now, the Baby Jogger Company that makes the stroller was so inspired by the tremendous out pouring of support from people like you, that the stroller ended up being donated. Subsequently, the funds will now be used to make another one of our dreams become a reality; a walking/running track that will be located behind Opportunity Enterprises. Currently in the planning stages, once completed the track will be used by our consumers, staff, and the community as a whole.
As far as the marathon is concerned, what a great day! Donelle and I had the time of our lives and she asked me to pass this along to you:
”THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING ME TO DO THIS!!! It was an awesome experience and one of the best times of my life. I feel so blessed to have come in contact with you all, the marathon team, and everyone else who helped get the chair and helped me with training. Thank you again everyone!“ - Donelle
As for me, words cannot express how grateful I am to you for helping make that day possible. I have had the good fortune of being able to share my love of running and the unmatched thrill of completing a marathon with so many people through the OE Marathon Team. To have been given the chance to share that same thrill with my daughter, who otherwise would probably never have had the chance, is a gift greater than you will ever know.
To help put into perspective what they are about to accomplish, I usually remind our marathon team members before the race that less than one half of one percent of everyone on this planet will ever complete a marathon. As for what you have helped to accomplish, as far as I know, Donelle is one of only two people with cerebral palsy who have ever experienced the thrill of the marathon first hand in the entire 110 year history of the event.
Thank you again for helping to make this dream come true. It will be a memory that Donelle and I will hold dear for the rest of our lives. I’m not sure whether or not we’ll run another marathon together, but I know we will both keep running. We definitely can’t wait to take that first lap around the OE running path in what hopefully will be in the not to distant future!
Take care,
Donelle and Todd Henderlong

As soon as I purchased our Baby Jogger, I also had a bike odometer calibrated and installed on the Baby Jogger. After six months, my husband and I have racked up over 650 miles!!! WOW, who would have believed that!!!
Thanks for a wonderful product...definitely, a "mother's helper," and "father's helper," for that matter.
